New book published by UNAM

Mexico City - "Fronteras, violencia, justicia; nuevos discursos" by UNAM's Gender Studies Program was presented this month in Mexico's capital city. Drs. Marisa Belausteguigoitia and Lucia Melgar, were the project coordinators. [Programa Universitario De Estudios de Genero. Universidad Nacional Autonoma De Mexico, Mexico, D.F., 2007; ISBN 978-970-32-4727-1.]

The anthology contains several essays on immigration, gender violence and femicides of Juarez, Mexico, by international academics and writers. Contributors include Dr. Rita Laura Segato (Brazil), prosecutor Carlos Castresana (Spain), Dr. Cathy Fourez (France), journalist Diana Washington Valdez (United States), and others.

Ms. Washington Valdez, author of The Killing Fields: Harvest of Women," contributed the chapter "Ciudad Juarez y la cultura del sacrificio (Ciudad Juarez and the culture of sacrifice)."
