KTEP to feature The Digie Zone co-founder on “The Weekend” program

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (July 22, 2016) – Digital Publisher Diana Washington Valdez will be a future featured guest on KTEP’s “Weekend” radio program hosted by Louie Saenz. The popular program airs at 1:30 p.m., Saturdays, on radio station 88.5 FM (www.ktep.org).

Among other things, Ms. Washington Valdez is expected to discuss The Digie Zone and The Digie Zone Express, online publications that are part of a global community news and information project to connect readers from around the world.

“Formats like The Digie Zone Express offer curated and original content free of charge to subscribers,” Diana Washington Valdez said. “We are living ‘the future of journalism.’ The Digie Zone Express is a weekly publication that will be available online and in newsletter formats. Although it is primarily a weekly, The Digie Zone Express can quickly switch to a daily mode if major national or worldwide events warrant more frequent and extensive coverage. “Zonies” can pull news and information from a variety of sources to keep readers informed.”

At the request of supporters, Ms. Washington Valdez began publishing her memoir online at www.dianawashingtonvaldez.blogspot.com. The new blog with only 13 posts has received more than 6,300 page views from readers in countries that include the United States, Italy, France, China, Russia, Ukraine, Morocco, Mexico, Germany, Ireland, Bulgaria, and the Netherlands. The Digie Zone on Blogger (www.thedigiezone.blogspot.com), an older and renamed blog, has received 194,900-plus page views since its inception, also by readers from around the globe. “I had no idea that other people would be interested in my experiences as a journalist,” Washington Valdez said.

Ms. Washington Valdez is a veteran journalist and a member of Investigative Reporters & Editors (IRE), the National Association of Hispanic Journalists (NAHJ), the International Association of Religion Journalists (IARJ) and the Journalism and Women Symposium (JAWS).
